Why Was Darth Maul Nearly Beaten By Pre Vizsla During Their Duel For The Mandalorian Darksaber?
In what is likely the most brutal scene ever shown in a kids TV show, Darth Maul disarms Pre Vizsla and then beheads him. However, there are several occasions during the duel where Pre Vizsla almost beats Maul and he was even able to disarm the sith with his blaster. At first this makes little sense. Maul is a Sith who has fought the likes of Palpatine, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, while Pre Vizsla isn’t even force sensitive. However, we have to remember the purpose of this duel. Maul wanted to convince the Death Watch that he was the superior duelist and rightful ruler of mandalore, and therefore he did not use the force to easily defeat Vizsla as they would have seen this as dishonourable cheating.
