If you do not have a phantom power supply, no XLR condenser mic (such as the BM-800) will work. I had a Neewer NW-700 and learned that quickly. However, phantom powers can run as low as $20. As to whether or not the BM-800 is worth it, it is - if you are able to remove static noise with some sort of DAW. Most people suggest Audacity, but I've never used it. I use Studio One right now. It's not perfect but words will be clearly heard. Hope this helped
