Quick format is a rapid process that essentially deletes the file system's information, making the drive appear empty. However, the actual data remains on the drive and can potentially be recovered using data recovery software.

Regular format, also known as full format, is a more thorough process. It not only deletes the file system but also scans the drive for bad sectors and marks them as unusable. This takes significantly longer but ensures that the drive is completely wiped and ready for new data.

In summary:

Quick format is faster but less secure.
Regular format is slower but more secure and thorough.
It's generally recommended to use a regular format when preparing a new drive or if you need to securely erase data.
