How did Luke Skywalker end up marrying an Imperial Assassin?
Born shortly after Order 66 and trained by Emperor Palpatine in the ways of the dark side, Mara Jade became one of the Empires most proficient assassins. As part of the emperor's hand she hunted down many Jedi as well as corrupt imperials. She was so trusted by the Emperor that he employed her to spy upon Vader himself. She was even sensed the conflict within Vader and hoped he would betray the empire so that she could take his place at Palpatines side. Vader woild betray Palpatine but managed to kill him, sending her into a deep depression. After mascurading as a smuggler for many years, she eventually encountered Luke. However, despite her hatred for him she is forced to work with him to survive on the planet as their force powers have been blocked by creatures known as Ysalamiri. Later on in the comic, Mara and Luke are forced to fight a dark side clone of Luke Skywalker and his dark jedi master. Mara kills both of them and renounces the dark side. After a few years, Luke fell for Mara and the pair married. Eventually she gave birth to their son, Ben Skywalker, a powerful force sensitive.
