What is POE Power Over Ethernet and POE switch
Power Over Ethernet is a technique where DC power is delivered to devices via an ethernet port. Some devices are designed in this manner.
It is a very reliable way of powering devices.
There are network switches designed with the ability to produce power via the network port thus serving two purposes of being used to transfer data and also producing power enough to power up a device. Some IP Cameras are built with this ability to be powered through the network port of the camera. This video shows a sample POE switch and a sample POE IP Camera.
