Oculus Quest 2 can now run HALF LIFE ALYX, city 17 as a home environment. Here is how you can install it on your Oculus Quest 1 & 2

Developer vermadas has taken the City 17 environment players can explore in SteamVR and ported it to Quest 2 as an environment for the Quest’s menu. Fair warning, though, that these custom environments override one of the existing Home environments on your Quest and Facebook issues you a warning about its Platform Abuse Policy for installing it. It reads: “Our Platform Abuse Policy prohibits piracy, illicit modding, cheating and other unauthorised usage,” before prompting you to restore the original environment.
Unlike the SteamVR environment, you can’t virtually walk around the space, though those with a large Guardian space could go exploring. Based on the video you can definitely see some blurry textures but it’s still very interesting to see environments from a high-end PC VR title actually running on a Quest 2.
We might never see Alyx on Quest, but we’re still holding out hope that Valve is working on a port for Sony’s upcoming PS5 VR headset. It’d certainly make for a hell of a launch title, wouldn’t it? Meanwhile, the original game itself has seen some impressive mods of late, including an all-new level.
