Manual campaigns should be the majority of your campaigns. Think of Exact Match campaigns as scale campaigns. These are the campaigns that will scale your brand at the most efficient way possible.
Broad, Phrase and Auto Campaigns on the other hand are discovery campaigns. The goal of these campaigns is to discover new search terms, which you then take over to your exact match, and then scale.
The main difference with Auto campaigns, is that they are good for placement over search. Automatic campaigns put you all over product pages more that they will put you on search. They will find some search terms for you but mostly they will place you all over product pages.
