Tips & pointers for getting better at Buckler Perfect Guarding in God Eater 3.
Basically, a long way of saying go practice.
Perfect Guarding is completely optional and you don't even need to bother to learn it to be proficient at the game. But its the most straight-forward way of showing your GE3 skills, and showing just how much you play the game.
Perfect Guarding consistently shows just how well you understand Aragami attack patterns and I think its a very good representation of what it means to be 'good' at God Eater 3.
There was a lot that got cut in this video and the end product is still very out there.
But there's no way I can say anything about Just Guarding that'd just make you suddenly be able to do it. Its a skill earned through practice and all I can do is give some tips on how to practice and talk about what I did to get better at it.
I didn't get to explain this in the video, but the reason why Positioning is so important is because you can control what move the Aragami does next by picking where to stand. Generally, they only do moves that will hit you at that spot. Understanding who the Aragami is targeting also helps.
There were also a few intermediate techniques I cut out of the video because they are vague and hard to explain while explaining everything else. Important stuff for taking your JG to the next level, but the video was 12min and I was way over my time limit. To name a few:
-Jump JG (Two active JG points - in the air and again when you land on the ground)
-Spin JG (When you look backwards and then input block in the opposite direction. This protects against crossups like Gawain)
-Fuzzy Guarding (guarding at points where you think a really fast attack will come out so that you don't have to react to it. This protects against super fast attacks like Winged Pita's one wing strike or Vajra's Bite & Claw attakcs)
If you some of watch my videos very closely you can probably spot all of these.
Here are some other pointers for getting better that didn't make it into the video:
-Try doing One Devour Runs. This is where you equip the PGC 21mm burst unit and only devour once. Then maintain Burst through Just Guards.
-Try to Perfect Guard with other shield types.
-Try Dive JG on moving attacks or Devour attacks.
-Try to understand why its a dumb idea to Perfect Guard certain attacks.
-Try to stay positive.
-Try to watch other people JG. I've watched practically every piece of GE3 gameplay on YT and Twitter and I know there isn't a lot of this. I mean, most players just deliberately run in a circle til an Aragami does an unsafe attack they know for sure they can punish and then slap 'Perfect Clear' on the title like they done did something no one else can do :V
-Try to think about how you are pressing the buttons. Think about whether a macro is good for you or whether you like holding R1 and pressing O or even pressing R1+O at the very moment at attack hits.
-Try to Perfect Guard in other games.
-Most importantly, Try to have fun.
This improves the learning process tenfold.
