Ever held yourself back because you were afraid of failing?
Many people have an irrational and persistent fear of failure - (Fun fact, it’s actually called atychiphobia) and it’s often the result of life experiences that cause a deep-rooted belief that the worst thing you can do is fail.
This leads you to feel anxious when trying new things or take risks, and prevents you from embracing growth because of the associated ‘pain’.
Ultimately, it can prevent you from living a full and fulfilling life.
So, it’s really important that we learn to work through this irrational fear and change our perspective on failure.
As Nelson Mandela is quoted as saying:
“I never lose. I either win or learn.”
3 Steps to help you reframe your perspective on failure:
1️⃣ Rather than tracking success, track the effort applied
This way, you make it about the process rather than the end goal.
2️⃣ Focus on what each experience teaches you
When you actively focus on the growth you give your experiences new meaning.
3️⃣ Don’t suffer in silence
Share your experiences with others. You’d be surprised how many around you have also experienced their own challenges that you can learn from .
What’s your best tip for dealing with failure? I’d love to hear it. 👇
