Differences: Khasra Number vs Khata Number vs Khatauni Number
Khasra Number - Khasra Number is a unique number that is assigned to a parcel of land in rural areas. Khasra Number is like the survey number or plot number assigned in urban areas.
Khata Number - Khata Number which is also known as Khewat number is a number that is assigned to landowners who jointly own a parcel of land. Khata Number provides details of the landowners and the total landholdings that they own. With changing land ownership, the khata number changes.
E.g. - Two brothers who have joint ownership in khewat 4 and decide to sell the land to a person who owns land in khewat 3. After mutation, the new owner's name will be updated in khewat 3 and khewat 4.
Khatauni Number - Khatauni Number is assigned to a set of cultivators who grow crops in land parcels with different khasra numbers. It gives the complete details of the cultivators and the area they cultivate. If the land is cultivated by the owner of the land, then it is entered as self-cultivated land in the land records.
