Big O notation is often used to confuse young programmers, but it is a valuable tool for understanding how different algorithms behave as the dataset increases. We think about the Big O for both time and memory. There are only a few Big Os that ever arise, and familiarity with them is key. Also, calculating the Big O is not very difficult to do.
