🇮🇩 Indonesian is easy to learn, but Indo slang/texting language is a whole different world 🙈 I have a German friend learning Bahasa and texting language in particular is one of the hardest things for him, next to vocab that's completely different than English/German words...

For example, formal Indo: "Sepertinya nanti malam saya akan jalan-jalan" (I think I will go out tonight)

Informal, fully written Indo: "Kayaknya entar malem gue bakal jalan-jalan"

Texting language: "Kykny tar mlm gw bakal jln2"

Do you see where the short forms come from? And no, the "2" is not a typo... 🤣 Also, everyone has their own way of texting, and it can vary a lot with each person. 😅 This is also why I would never teach anyone formal Indo if their goal is to communicate in Indo, because nobody uses proper Indo in daily life. Seriously.

But hey, texting language is practical and easy, once you know it 😅😂😘

Is your texting language completely different than spoken language for you? 👀

🇮🇩 Vocab (lol)
"gpp": gapapa/ enggak apa-apa / tidak apa-apa -- it's okay
"wkwkwk": laughing, but we also use hahaha and hehehe and hihihi etc 😂
