Transferring data such as video and picture from a GoPro to a PC or Mac computer involves using the provided cable connecting to the computer and transfer files through USB mode, or, removing the (micro) sd card and inserting that into an as card reader connected to your computer. What however if you have none of the two at hands?

This tutorial shows you how to transfer data from your GoPro using the built in WiFi connection of your GoPro and of your computer just like you do between the GoPro App on your phone and using the WiFi connection of your phone.

This tutorial has been tested using a GoPro Hero 8 Black, however, it might be working with different GoPro models as well, let me know in the comments.

Instructions in the order:

Turn on your phone paired with the GoPro, your GoPro in live view mode and your pc or mac
Enable wireless connection on your GoPro
Connect to your gopro using the GoPro App on the phone
Connect to the GoPro Wi-Fi using the password seen under settings in the GoPro
On your PC or Mac, surf to http://10.5.5.9/videos/DCIM
Right click on the footage and start download. It might take a while until download is completed
You might as well use a download manager to download several files at once

Shot on August, 2020 on a Sony Alpha 7AIII with Samyang 18mm AF lens. Audio from PreSonus StudioLive AR8C with Shure Beta 58A. Includes screen capture from Mac and GoPro footage. Assembled with FCPX.
