The most common mistake people make is they give up too soon. Posting 5, 10 and often even 20 posts on your website is not enough. Your posts need to age, and Google needs to see that you're committed to your website. So you usually need to keep publishing great content in order to eventually get traffic to your site.
The other mistake I see a lot is that the keywords chosen are too competitive. In this video, I'm showing how to choose keywords which actually have a decent chance to rank.
