Coupled Oscillators are systems in which two or more oscillating systems are coupled together so that each can exchange energy with the other. The motion is quite interesting.
The general solution is a linear superposition of two distinct frequencies, known as Normal frequencies. Under certain initial conditions, the entire system can execute Simple harmonic oscillations with these normal frequencies. Such modes are known as Normal Modes.
If we know the normal modes of a coupled oscillator, we can construct its general solution by the linear combination of the distinct normal frequencies! Voila.
