So this is because of a youtube comment. I got challenged: what about the SOFT music, how can this meter thing mean anything to soft mega-hit records with no guitar solos or (gasp) drums?
Watch and learn. EVERYTHING still applies. I got specifically asked about this song, and then saw the record in a record store. You're welcome. ;)
Debby Boone's copyright holders are sharing revenue on this with me (through ContentID), which I think is very kind and in the spirit of her pretty song :)
In this series, I'm going to use the context of a 'react' video to do two things: one, teach people how to get these sounds and make this kind of music if they choose, and two, put forward examples of WHAT this music is meant to sound like, since in almost every case the version you'll hear on streaming or in public places has been remixed beyond recognition and remastered beyond listenability.
This is about learning how to mix sound properly, and about documenting what's really going on in the hit records that used to create entire industries, now in decline. Let's do music properly again.
