First I thoroughly rinse the plants to remove external pesticides and critters.
Then I treat them for eggs of parasites, nematodes, insects and pests. This treatment is repeated several times, this is an essential step as some of these lay eggs that are extremely difficult to destroy.
Finally I inspect them for any signs of other life piggybacking on them. Only after i am 100% convinced they are visually free of everything, I proceed to plant them in different stages of disinfection in preparation for their final journey to become in vitro plants. But only after I am 100% convinced that they are clean do the move to Phase 2.
If there are any doubt then we rather repeat everything, as all the effort that will follow will be a waist if this is not done perfect.
In some cases Phase 1 have taken up to 3 months before I was happy.

Remember we need perfect plants, without pests, algae, snails, fungus or bacterial infections. If I fail to remove it all, the plants will be destroyed by any of those.
WHY?
Because in our perfect laboratory conditions we add loads of food that will boost the contamination, leading to the inevitability that the contamination will outcompete the plants really fast. leading to total destruction of the plant by the contamination.
Now on to Phase 3 =
