HLHS Umbilical Cord Blood Clinical Trial
The Todd and Karen Wanek Family Program for HLHS is excited to announce that the program is now able to collect and store umbilical cord blood from HLHS babies to be potentially used for clinical trials in the future. One of the current clinical trials uses stem cells collected from umbilical cord blood with the aim to strengthen the heart using autologous stem cells, or stem cells collected from an individual’s own body.
