On May 31, 2014, the entire world came to a standstill in what was dubbed the "Slenderman Case." Two twelve-year-old girls, Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier, attempted to kill their best friend, Payton Leutner. The young woman miraculously survived the attempted murder, but as the investigation progressed, the police officer in charge, Dan Klein, increasingly realized that something dark was lurking. The girls' motivations seemed to be related to the worship of a certain entity.

And when they found them, the interrogations confirmed those suspicions. Morgan and Anissa confessed to having tried to kill Payton because the faceless man had asked them to. The two girls came up with the name Slenderman, an entity that lurked in the woods and, after entering the minds of its prey, would draw them into its long arms to devour them. The police believed it was simply a youthful fantasy, but as they delved deeper into the mysteries of the case, the legend of Slender Man, created by Victor Surge in 2009 on an internet forum, seemed to begin to move along the delicate line between reality and fiction.
