The Nassau Street line contains four trackways, of which three have active tracks. As part of a comprehensive reconstruction project in the early 2004s, the "east" set of platforms at Canal St and Bowery were abandoned, leaving all service to run via the two "west" tracks. However, one track was left available for use on the "east" side, allowing for reroutes and train storage when needed. While in-service reroutes over this track are very rare, they do occasionally occur. This video shows a ride on a J train from Chambers Street directly to Essex St to run around a train with a sick customer at Bowery Station. Enjoy this rare look at the abandoned "east" platforms at Canal St and Bowery!
